I've been getting a lot of questions lately about my Killacycle.com LiIon BMS, and about my homebrew DIY Surface Mount techniques.
As you can see, I'm not a very good writer, so I thought I'd upload a draft of a contest entry I put together.
See what 990 www.A123systems.com cells can do! Last run on March 31st 2007 at Firebird speedway in AZ. This is the fastest
and quickest 1/4 mile run of _any_ electric vehicle on the planet! All 60 foot times were less than 1.19 seconds.
Impressed? Check out www.NEDRA.com for more information on electric drag racing, and www.Killacycle.com for more on this
bike. Or type "Killacycle" into the search field of YouTube.
The below clip is of the first burnout of the day, at Bandimere Speedway on June 28th, 2006. This is to clean off the old
rubber on the surface of the tire, to warm up the tire to make it sticker, and to warm up the batteries a little. And it
looks cool, too!
This is a 16 second clip of the second (and last!) run of the day. Notice during the second half of the strip, the orange
glow exiting the rght side of the bike? This is the rear motor reverting to the 4th state of matter (plasma). The rider
let off the throttle and coasted the rest of the way, as shown by the slower final MPH speed. Still, breaking into the 8s
ain't a bad way to end the day! The plasma event only bummed me out when I realized (due to day job constraints) that our
next opportunity to race will be the weekend of November 10th, 2006 in Las Vegas...
Here is another great "Plasma Event"; Las Vegas November 2006 at night. Notice the meteorite bouncing off the track at the
end of the run!
